Lebanese Hospital Geitaoui-UMC (LHG-UMC), one of the first hospitals in Lebanon, was founded in 1927 by Abbot Youssef Selwan Geitaoui. The hospital is administered by the Congretation of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Maronite Family, founded in 1895 by Patriarch Elias El Hoyek.
Since 2010, the LGH-UMC has been under the leadership of Sister Hadia ABI CHEBLI and Doctor Pierre YARED. Both lead the hospital as CEO with the focus on best possible care for the patients, always with the apsect that the Lebanese Hospital Geitaoui, as a NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION uses all revenues exclusively for the care of the patients.
LHG-UMC, as a university hospital with about 110 medical students, has 250 beds, including 31 intensive care beds, 8 operating rooms, a helipad, two cath labs and an emergency room that can accommodate up to 22 patients.Since 1992, our hospital also has the only burn center in Lebanon that cares for patients with severe burns from all over Lebanon. Since the 1960s, Lebanese Hospital Geitaoui has been one of the pioneer hospitals in all of Lebanon, one can say in all of the Middle East, as it quickly embraces medical and technological innovations and provides high quality care. The standard of hygiene, cleanliness, facilities and training of medical staff is in line with European standards, which in Lebanon, one may say, is a total exception. With a mission to provide the best possible care to every patient, without distinction of class, race or background, it will soon celebrate its 100th anniversary.
